Current Boeing CEO, David Calhoun, has been declared “absolutely rooted” by a number of experts, but the company doesn’t plan to recall the executive until the close of 2024.
The once reputable company has had a series of horrific incidents in recent times, including a mid-air cabin panel blowout, and crashes that have killed hundreds of people; which some have suggested are bad things.
Although Calhoun wasn’t CEO when the crashes occurred, he’s been a director since 2009 and seen as a key part of their “she’ll be right” approach to safety.
“Look, I’m not really involved in the plane side of the business” said Calhoun, admirably taking responsibility for the shortcomings of his plane company.
“It’s not like I get to make all of the decisions. For example, I named our new plane the “737 MAX PROFIT” after our constant cutting of corners in the relentless pursuit of maximising financial gain.
“But our marketing guys thought the name was a bit long so it ended up being called just the 737 MAX”.
At that point the Boeing PR manager interrupted our interview to escort Mr Calhoun away.
However, the PR manager admitted that while they had planned to ground Calhoun sooner, they’d run into some turbulence attempting to land a new CEO.
